Impact of Adopting, Fostering, and Kinship Care
on Resident Kids

This curriculum will equip parents and caregivers to understand the benefits of welcoming a new child by adoption, foster care, or kinship care for the children already living in their home. They will also learn about common challenging impacts resident children often experience, along with the typical concerns that most parents and caregivers have about welcoming a new child to the family. Parents and caregivers will be presented with practical tools to help them buffer their resident children through the challenging impacts, including tips for establishing healthy family-wide communication.
